Hey everyone, I’m Russ and I love to travel and explore this great country. I currently, work a full time job in higher education so most of my traveling is between terms, long weekends and semester breaks. Working on going from part time travel to full time. This weekend Paula and I took a day trip north to Door County to look at the fall colors. We had great weather and we saw so much beauty. Of course we took back roads all the way. Along the way we stopped at the Wind Point light house and in little pub in Kewaunee, WI. When in Kewaunee check out Rick and Sally’s Bucket House. I had the Bucket burger, it was awesome. I hope you enjoy it. As always you can find the video on my YouTube channel. Here is the direct link to the video: https://youtu.be/VZDTDAnqw2o
This weekend it was time to clean out and put the campervan into storage. Most likely it will be there for the winter. In the mean time i will be looking at mini school buses. In this weeks video we prep the van for storage. You can find it here, I hope you enjoy it.
This week has been crazy for me. Since deciding I had to let the campervan go I needed to find a new daily driver for work. Although I found one pretty quickly, I needed a bit of work and had some puzzling symptoms. Well after a lot of trouble shooting it is finally good to go and I can reliable get back and forth to work. Now I can start to think about my next camper project.
In this weeks video I want to share a bit of the weekend I had with my daughter a Universal Studios Orlando. We both had a great time. I hope you enjoy the video, you can find it here: https://youtu.be/pNqO7NF84FYp
This will be a short update post. Something happened over the weekend that will change my travel dreams. I will be putting together a short video tonight after work explaining what has happened and what it will mean. Keep an eye out for the video.
Last night Paula and I went down to the lake to enjoy the lakefront and have a picnic. BTW, awesome food sweetie. So we were walking around afterwards and taking a few pictures of the Kenosha skyline at sunset, when I noticed something strange next to a vase. Paula picked it up and it was a painted rock. So apparently, this is a thing. PeoplePaint rocks and hide them. When you find it you post a picture and then re hide it, a very cool idea. So here is the one we found.
I really liked this idea, I may even paint a rock myself. Paula’s daughter will re hide the rock today. If you are interested in more information I will like to the facebook group Kenosha Rocks.
I had this great idea to build a box to place on top of the van to carry all my camping gear. I could then just pull the box down when I’m not on the road and all my gear could easily be stored in one place. I ran into an issue with raising and lowering the box, it was heavier than I expected it would be. So I decided to build a lift for that purpose. Here is the video for that project.
Just put up a few of the pictures I took at the game on July 20th. It was a fun game and a very nice stadium. You can find the pictures here: http://theprudenttraveler.com/some-of-my-photos/
Just got this weeks video up. Sorry about it being a couple days late, but I was traveling. This week I share my exploration of the Green Swamp Wildlife Management Area. It was very nice, but a wet and humid day so I didn’t do as much as I would have liked to. Then I made my way over to Tampa Bay to catch a baseball game. One more stadium off the bucket list!

This weekend, my wonderful girlfriend kidnapped me and took me to the Chicago Botanical Garden. Such a beautiful place and I can easily imagine it changes with the seasons, so we will have to go back. I took so many wonderful pictures. You can find them here: http://theprudenttraveler.com/some-of-my-photos/. On another subject this weeks video is now available on my YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/4jRNF1f-KOk. I got the chance to share with you some of the fantastic things we saw and did at the Kenosha Celebrate America.
We ran into a little problem with our solar panels. Shortly after we left Tampa Bay, one of the solar panels came lose from the roof rack on the van. It was already lose and I had tied it down with duct tape. It was actually the duct tape that kept the solar panel from flying away and maybe hitting someone or something. Fortunately there was no damage to the panel. When we got home I went to work repairing the mounting for the solar panels. I also want to send a shout out the the Florida Highway Patrol, an office stop and offered to help.
